Our chicken tractor isn't the normal type you'd see on a farm, but baby has his own creative little mind and decided his new friends were the perfect size for a ride along. Yep, we have more chicks. All the books said that keeping chickens was addicting and to expect to have more than you originally planned. I guess they were right. We got 20 free chicks from Danny's Bible study teacher that were hatched by a local second grade class. After getting some fun time in school, I got the call that the chicks were ready to move out. The Rhode Island Reds were passed on already and I've been slowly giving away a few more here and there. The rest of them should all lay blue eggs so I'm happy to have a few more of them. The chicks are pretty big, already getting their wing feathers, and the boys love visiting them and it provides some welcome baby entertainment during the week. Danny is either begging to go down and see them in the basement, or peeping to them from upstairs. Occasionally we bring a few up for a play date and of course baby took it to a whole new level of cute and ran and got his tractor. By now they've quit trying to escape and just go along for the ride. I can't get over the cuteness.
