We live with the mindset that the closer we can get our food to how God intended, the better off we all will be. Our children's health concerns led to a lot of changes in how we live. Our diet when we are out is gluten, dairy, sugar, and additive free, however at home it is very different. We've learned we don't have to avoid most food if we source better quality products and change how we prepare our food. Using raw dairy, sourdough einkorn bread, honey, and maple syrup have allowed us to bring back in foods we never thought our boys would eat again, and raising as much as we can on our homestead allows us to have higher control over what ends up in our food. Our recipes don't fit one specific diet, but a collection of what works for us. I mean the point of uploading my recipes was solely so I'd quit forgetting them and could find them easily. They're not the most precise, usually made to taste, but as someone who loathed cooking, tasting my food along the way was the best way to learn how each ingredient impacts a recipe. Now I can make something up without a problem, because I know how different flavors work together. Cooking can be a joy, a source of creativity, and nourishment for the body. Be patient with yourself, enjoy the journey, and don't expect perfection every time and cooking can become a real blessing.
