Crunching, crinkling, crispy leaves Blustering, swirling in the breeze Pumpkin patches, apple cider, Toasting piggies by the fire Fall is here! Last week baby went to his first pumpkin patch and we had so much fun. (Unfortunately that is all I have of the original post. When the blog went down, this was a post lost with it, but it was such a wonderful day I still wanted it part of our blog history, so from here on out it has been rewritten, the little details lost, but the pictures and little memories still remain.) We had such a perfect day for fun at the pumpkin patch. The weather was warm enough for not needing coats and we joined family and friends at The Maize at Little Darby Creek for a fun day of activities. Of course Danny and I had to wear our matching pumpkin shirts, because he will only tolerate this cuteness for a very short period in his life. There was plenty to do for a full day of fun and little Danny hopped right in there with the other kids, loving the animals and surprisingly showing now fear as all the goats tried to stretch for some treats he was sharing. One even accidentally nibbled his finger but he didn't even mind.. There was just about every farm animal imaginable for the kids to see and they were even able to get into the bunny pen and pet and hold the rabbits. There were old tractors and tires to climb on, a play ground, play barn with a hay maze, and a giant inflated blob for the kids to jump on. Even though he was young, there was still plenty for Danny to do. It wasn't too crowded so he could have fun without being trampled by too many other kids running around. He really enjoyed playing in the corn kernals, letting them trickle between his fingers and eventually laying down and swimming in them. The older kids enjoyed the giant slides, jumping on the blob, and shooting the pumpkin cannon. We did the cow train, which the kids loved, (not my favorite) and they could have spent all day playing with the water pumps and floating the ducks back and forth. There were plenty of pumpkins already picked that you could take home, but it is not a trip to the pumpkin patch without a hayride, so we opted to ride out to the fields and pick out our own. Unlike other patches I'd been to, they had almost every type of pumpkin imaginable and the kids had a great time picking out which one they wanted. Since Danny didn't care I picked out a pretty pink one to take home. There was also a huge corn maize, which we didn't attempt with the kids, but we did the kid size one. The place offers a season pass or day passes. Unfortunately, except for one Friday, they are only open on the weekends or we would be doing the season pass and hanging out there during the day in years to come. Danny had a great time and I must say it was my favorite patch I'd ever visited. We will definitely be going back in the future for more fun.
